A member of the ECCAS Joint Technical Commission in November 2018 for the construction of the Kinshasa-Brazzaville road-rail bridge, Marc Ekila is also a founding member of the Alliance of Democratic Forces of Congo (AFDC) party.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This jurist and lawyer at the Kinshasa-Matete bar was also the former chief of staff of Modeste Bahati Lukwebo, the current President of the Senate. Appointed Vice-Minister in April 2021, then notified Interim Minister of Transport, Communication Channels and Accessibility in January 2023 in the Sama 1 government, Marc Ekila is no novice at the head of this ministry. Several files of national interest, although also affecting other ministries, await him.<\/p>\n<p>In the transport sector, the Government&#039;s action focuses first and foremost on facilitating travel within the country, promoting social inclusion and opening up provinces and territories, in order to connect agricultural production centers to processing and consumption centers. For the period 2023-2025, the Ministry will intensify the rehabilitation and modernization of road, rail, airport, river and lake infrastructure. Thus, in its flagship project for the development of the 145 territories that make up the DRC, the Government has set the objective of building at least three airports per province, for a total of 78 airports.<\/p>\n<p>The importance of transport in the Congolese economy is evident in the percentage of transport in GDP, which is higher in the DRC than in almost all other African countries. Marc Ekila Likombo, who was appointed by presidential decree to head the National Ministry of Transport, Communication Channels, and Access to Land, is assisted by S\u00e9raphine Kilubu as Vice Minister.
